John Montgomery Ward had 108 wins as a pitcher before he turned 21. He is the only player to amass more than 150 wins as a pitcher and more than 2000 hits. He also won over 400 games as a manager. On June 17, 1880 while pitching for the Providence Grays, he tossed a 5-0 perfect game against Buffalo. In 1882 he beat the Detroit Wolverines 1-0 in 18 innings. The longest complete game shutout ever pitched.
He was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1964
